What is the SkinPen?

SkinPen is the first FDA-cleared microneedling device on the market that is proven to improve the look of wrinkles on the neck and acne scars in adults 22 years or older. It can also be used to treat hyperpigmentation, large pores, and stretch marks.

The microneedling treatment is performed using SkinPen. The SkinPen contains 14 surgical-grade stainless steelmicro-needles which creates micro-wounds in your skin. These small wounds trigger the wound-repair process, which consists of three stages, including:

• Stage 1-Inflammation: Creating micro-channels in the skin triggers your body’s natural immune response thecleanse the wound, remove dead cells, and increase blood flow to create new tissue.
• Stage 2- Proliferation: The micro-wound is repaired with new cells, and a new networkof blood vessels is created.
• Stage 3-Remodeling: The wound is replaced with new, healthy dermal tissues and blood vessels.

The small wounds that were created by the Micropen will also stimulate collagen and elastin production in the skin during the healing process. Thisincrease in collagen is what will provide age-defying results. Plus, microneedling with SkinPen provides completely natural results that only improve with time!

What to Expect?

Prior to your SkinPen microneedling treatment, we ask that patients discontinueproducts that contain exfoliating agents such as retinoic acid, retinol, salicylic acids, etc. at least 48 hours before treatment.

During the procedure, the SkinPen will be used across the targeted area to create controlled micro-wounds in the skin to stimulate the body’s natural healing process. This treatment can be used with or without platelet-rich-plasma (PRP) for optimal results. Microneedling usually takes about 30 minutes to complete, depending on the size of the treatment area.
